/  ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT PROGRAM

This program provides instruction on the fundamentals of Microsoft Office and Workforce Readiness.  Utilizing the Microsoft applications will enable the user to create numerous types of business documents; enabling students to perform many of the technical aspects effectively as executive or administrative assistants.  Also, workforce readiness skills are important for gainful employment.  As a result, the Workforce Readiness course will prepare students for the work place.  The program focuses on business communications, office procedures, book keeping and records management are a few topics covered in this program. Upon completion, students will be prepared for the workplace to be employed in administrative capacities.

Prerequisite: HS Diploma or GED, Typing speed of 25 WPM or higher

/  MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSIONS TO QSIT PROGRAMS

  1. Complete a QSIT admissions application.

  2. Participate in an interview with the QSIT selection committee. Questions are asked to assess the student’s ability to communicate effectively, work as a team, as well as their analytical and problem-solving skills.

  3. Each candidate is required to pass a basic math test with a minimum score of 65%.  Almost all jobs require the ability to perform basic math.

  4. Each candidate is required to pass a basic reading comprehension test with a minimum score of 65%. Academic competence in reading is essential to comprehend instructions.

  5. Each candidate is required to take a typing test. Applicants that type less than 25 words per minute will be required to complete the Word Processing program. Although employers expect to provide training on job-specific software, they also expect employees to be proficient with basic computer skills.

/  SHAREPOINT PROGRAM

The SharePoint program focuses on teaching a web-based collaborative tool that allows individuals to interact with groups as well as create, manage and edit a wide range of shared information, such as documents, lists and calendars.  Data in SharePoint can be created either in a temporary or permanent content capacity.  This program uses easy, concise steps; straightforward instruction to show the most expedient ways to learn about document repositories and collaboration.

/  WEB DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

This program focuses on teaching front end web design skills. You will acquire technical skills to design a website with focus on your development as a Front-end Designer.  Your knowledge will be enhanced with Graphics applications to design and edit images.  All applications learned are essential in creating images, publishing, graphics, sound, and multimedia products using the internet. Also, you will learn how to use HTML, XML, JavaScript and Dreamweaver.  Upon completion of this program, students will have the ability to be Front End Web Designers.

This program prepares individuals to perform text typing, recognize common symbol keys by touch and not sight.  Students will learn table construction, and document formatting tasks on personal computers while aiming to achieve a high rate of accuracy and proficiency.  This program also includes instruction in word processor operation to create memos, letter, reports, textual draft interpretation, using both audio and tape dictation, and word processing program software.

/  WORKFORCE READINESS PROGRAM

This program focuses on topics that will assist a student in transitioning from classroom to a job in a professional environment through the introduction of 21st Century job readiness skills.  Acquiring workforce readiness skills will raise the awareness of the student by introducing him/her to the expectations of employers and colleagues. This program teaches skills that the National Association of College and Employers (NACE) have defined as a priority to employers.  Students will learn financial literacy, career planning that will focus on personal goal setting, create a resume and cover letter, understand the importance of effective communication with peers, employer, and customers; as well as understand professionalism, work ethics and professional networking.  Students will learn time and task management along with team work techniques.
